Q: DOES THE SYSTEM WORK IN THE WINTER?
A: According to a NAIT study, snow build up will reduce a systems yearly output by a mere 3-4%. The solar panels create a skating rink effect that allows the snow to slide off naturally.
Q: IS THE SYSTEM GOING TO GET DAMAGED BY HAIL?
A: Solar panels are built to be highly durable and resilient. it is improbable that they would be damaged by hail. The solar modules undergo a series of tests to ensure their durability before being released into the market. We have a YouTube video that provides more detailed information on this subject. For those who are still worried, they could consider adding solar panels to their home insurance policy to provide an added layer of security and peace of mind.
Q: WHAT DOES NET-METERING MEAN?
A: Net-metering is a program offered by utility companies that allows microgeneration properties to both buy and sell power. With net-metering, a bi-directional meter is installed that can track when power is being sold to the grid, as well as when power is being drawn from the grid. This way, the difference between the amount of power used and the amount of power sold can be calculated, and the net result can be used to determine the utility bill at the end of the billing cycle.
